UK Sports & Venues Summit

Thursday 21 November 2019, 08:00

This Summit brings greater focus to activities in the UK: venue development and support requirements provide the focus. With a number of future significant major sports events taking place in the UK, including the UEFA Euros semi-finals, and finals 2020; Rugby League World Cup 2021 and the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, this is a unique opportunity for UK Sports and Venues to share knowledge and challenges with peers and suppliers.

Main themes will be:

-       A thought leadership panel* involving UK Sport, DCMS and the Commonwealth Games

-       A focus on the challenges facing modern sports venues; including technology, operational efficiencies and fan engagement- involving our hosts the London Stadium, Villa Park and also a representative from the £1billion new Spurs’ stadium

-       A sector workshop discussing technology, overlay and safety & security with representatives from the Commonwealth Games and other rights holders

-       Lessons from past events- featuring representatives from the Cricket and Netball World Cups plus Tour de Yorkshire

-       An overview of future UK sports events including the Euros, and sports representatives invited by UK Sport

-       Lessons from the US, and the challenges of US sports coming to the UK- involving representatives from the NBA, NFL and MLB

*Themes will remain unchanged, but speaker representatives are subject to change, based on speaker availability

The Summit will follow a similar format to the June Major Events Summit held at Villa Park - Click Major Events Summit 2019 Video to view
