Representatives from Brazil will be among the featured speakers at the 2010 SportAccord Convention in Dubai.
Mayor of Rio de Janeiro Eduardo Paes will introduce a SportAccord Convention session on the changing geography of international sport. The session is dedicated to countries and regions that have become major players in sport reflecting the emergence of their increasingly powerful economies. As Rio’s Summer Olympic Games in 2016 will be the first Olympic Games to take place in South America, Carlos Nuzman, president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee, will also participate in the panel session.

The SportAccord Convention will also feature the topic of ‘The Autonomy of Sport’ on its conference agenda at a time when regulation and the role of non-sport authorities in the governance of sport is the focus of increasing debate and consultation around the world. Speakers include Nawal El Moutawakel, former sports minister, Morocco, and chairwoman of the Rio 2016 Coordination Commission.

The eighth annual SportAccord Convention will take place in Dubai from 25-30 April 2010 at the Atlantis Palm Resort. It is the first edition of the SportAccord Convention to be held in the Middle East.
