Air Freight

• Peak season has shown record volumes in the market and the outlook for 2022 remains at high level with tight capacity.
• The market is experiencing many freighter cancellations due to carriers converting to charter flights.
• The mode shift from ocean to air is adding continuous pressure to the congested market situation.
• Omicron continues to impact air freight operations globally and has resulted in flight cancellations, lockdowns, shortage in manpower as well as travel restrictions.
• Oil and jet fuel prices continue to trend upwards after a slight drop due to the spread of Omicron.

 

Ocean Freight

• Global Ocean market demand normalizes, however still expected to outperform fresh capacity supply for 2022.
• Continuously missing capacity in the carrier service set-up adds further negative impact to the supply, keeping the supply and demand delta wide open. Carriers advise about effectively 15- 2 0% less capacity available due to capacity being tied up through congestion and other schedule delays.
• Global carrier schedule reliability is down to 33% and average delay of vessel arrivals of 7 days.

 

Land Transport

• Some restrictions to contain the COVID-19 pandemic are still established in some European countries, directly or indirectly affecting transportation. Due to rising infection rates, some European countries (e.g. Czech Republic, Slovakia) go / went into lockdown measures to break the wave.
• In case of disruptions, we follow our pre-defined contingency plans to ensure flows of cargo. We are adapting our transport service offerings daily to the needs of our customers.
• Some receivers continue to have limited operations. All shippers may check the delivery possibility with the consignee to avoid cost for storage or return shipments.

 

Contract Logistics

• While we perceive raising infections globally due to Omicron variant, our operations and respective customer services remain stable. We continue prioritizing protection and diversified support of our staff and monitoring the status quo very closely in all countries to stay agile and responsive.
• To keep our customers’ businesses running, we are in closest contact with all our partners, and carry on supporting all conceivable warehousing services, including short-term available space.
• Our healthcare experts keep supporting global vaccination, medical centers, respective treatments, and preventive measures by handling medical devices, PPE or pharmaceuticals.
