With a history spanning nearly three decades, WGP#1 is widely recognised as one of the world’s most successful and influential jet ski tournaments. Established in 1996 by Mr. Pankhet Subsahakam (Drake) as the first Jet Ski World Cup, the event has grown from just three participating nations to over 3,000 participants from 40 countries.
Mr Parikhet Subsahakarn, Tournament Director for WGP#1, had this to say on the partnership 'WGP#1 is excited to partner with MEI as it marks an incredible milestone for us. This partnership aligns perfectly with our ambition to become one of the top five racing sport tournaments worldwide and create positive impacts on our host city. Our mission is to deliver world-class racing experiences and foster a dynamic and innovative environment for both WGP#1 fans and the host city. We look forward to this exciting journey'
In 2019, WGP#1 expanded into the WaterJet World Series, a thrilling global tour that captivated audiences worldwide. The tournament is now broadcast across 121 countries, reaching 1.3 billion households and engaging 473 million digital users, cementing its status as the pinnacle of jet ski racing.
Dennis Mills, CEO of MEI, commented on the partnership 'We are delighted to be working with WGP to identify suitable host cities for their forthcoming World Series. With the potential to become one of the leading racing formats globally, it is an exciting event to host. We are pleased to be leading this engagement campaign for them and look forward to a successful partnership.'
