The Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) is the UK Government’s safety regulator for sports grounds. We have been improving sports grounds safety across the world for over 30 years.
We are authors of the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds 6th edition (Green Guide) and SG03: Event Safety Management. They are internationally recognised as best-practice guides for the development and refurbishment of stadia and the safe management of events to ensure spectator safety, including management responsibilities, conducting risk assessments and developing an Operations Manual.
Safety management at sports grounds has become more sophisticated and more professional and we set the standard for which sports grounds should aspire to in managing sports venues.
Event organisers, venue owners and operators use our guides to help prepare venues for major sporting events across six continents, at every World Cup and Olympic event since 2002.
Besides our guidance, we provide consultancy, advisory and bespoke training services across the world. We act as a trusted strategic safety partner for host cities and international federations, helping them to determine their strategic safety needs to ensure safe major sporting events.
