Hosts and Federations Summit 2023 Review

The 7th edition of the Hosts and federations Summit will be returning to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland from the 17th to the 20th June 2024. The aim of the Summit is to provide an environment to nurture the symbiotic relationship between major sports rights holders and cities that host them. And then introduce best in class suppliers, who help deliver them, into the mix.

The three day summit from the 17th to the 20th June 2024 will involve a number of speakers and panellists from across the major sporting events arena, who are looking to impart their wisdom and insights onto the attendees around a variety of issues and topics that face the industry. For example in 2023 we had Christophe Dubi, Olympic Games Executive Director, Damiano Zamana, Deputy CEO and Operations Director for FIM, and Philipe Tuccelli, Competitions Director for Rugby Europe.

To accommodate the impressive line-up of speakers there were 3 streams of content across the course of the Summit. This will be repeated again for 2024, in order for us to cover the themes and topics that matter most to the major events industry. As well as this we will be bringing back facilitated 1-1 meetings for our enhanced and VIP delegates in 2024. This is where we help set up 1-1 meetings between international Federations, Cities and Expert Venue Suppliers. 2023 proved these meetings a big success as a number of agreements and deals were completed thanks to these meetings.

In 2024 MEI are proud to announce the inaugural Football Host Summit being held at the FIFA Museum in Zurich, Switzerland from the 19th to the 20th June 2024.

The focus will be on opportunities and challenges, in particular for Local Organising Committees, broader city support agencies and those responsible for mobilisation and legacy beyond the “field of play.”  Planning, Mobilisation and Legacy are the main themes with the potential to deep dive into specialist innovation areas such as Sustainability, Inclusion, Visitor Experience, Safety and Security as examples. The model will follow the proven and well-established MEI Summit format, emphasising panels, case studies, workshops and providing opportunities to strengthen relationships. The approach to programme development is via dialogue to establish which areas would provide most benefit to FIFA and regional planning and delivery organisations and expressions of interest to contribute are welcome.
