In May 2025, ten members of the Hinson Security Services (HSS) management team successfully completed an intensive three-day Behavioural Detection Officers (BDO) course.
Behavioural Detection is a proactive security methodology that focuses on identifying suspicious behaviour through psychological and physiological indicators, rather than profiling based on appearance. BDOs are trained to recognise signs of stress, anxiety, and deception that may suggest involvement in criminal or terrorist activity.
Hinson Security Services deploys highly trained BDOs across a wide range of environments, particularly large venues and public spaces, to counter threats including terrorism, activism, and other forms of criminality. Officers utilise advanced behavioural observation techniques to assess individuals in real time and identify anomalies that may present an elevated risk.
2025 BDO Deployments
June 2025 – The Hoppings
(Europe’s Largest Travelling Funfair)
During this deployment, HSS BDOs observed multiple indicators of anti-social behaviour and potential drug-related criminal activity. As a result, police were notified, leading to a successful Section 23A search and the removal of the individual from the event.
June 2025 – Sedgefield Races
BDO officers identified individuals attempting to bring alcohol into the venue using concealment on their person. These individuals were searched by the security team and subsequently ejected from the event.
July 2025 – Silverstone British Grand Prix
This four-day deployment involved four HSS BDOs working alongside other BDOs from across the UK. During the event, officers successfully identified and intercepted several incidents, including:
Illegal resale of tickets
Anti-social behaviour
Pickpocketing
Theft
September 2025 – Stockton & Darlington Railway 200
This large-scale event saw over 300 HSS personnel deployed, including multiple BDOs tasked with monitoring key locations, including areas where Royalty was present. HSS BDOs observed several covert acts of suspected drug dealing, which were reported and successfully intercepted, as well as individuals displaying possible hostile intent to disrupt the event.
Following the event, organisers praised the professionalism and conduct of the BDOs, describing their performance as “nothing short of exceptional.”

2025 has been an extremely successful year for HSS’s newly qualified Behavioural Detection Officers. HSS BDOs are now deployed both nationally and internationally, providing a highly effective layer of proactive security.
