When the lights are on, the crowd is screaming at 110 decibels, and the first notes of a chart-topping song ring through the PA, nothing can seem finer than working in the live production industry. But what happens after the show, when days turn into weeks away from friends and family, and where the rigors of a stressful, time-intensive career can feel overwhelming?
Clair Global recognizes that mental performance is the most critical component for success. As attitudes continue to shift toward a reflective and healthier approach toward mental health, initiatives that boost wellbeing and foster spaces for recovery, rehabilitation, and rejuvenation have never seen a greater groundswell of support.
In that spirit, Clair Global commits to elevating its people by advocating mental health initiatives for those who have made careers in live event production and touring audio. By offering both holistic, company-wide mental health support and focused, localized tools for increased wellness, no one is left feeling isolated.
One of the most visible, and enthusiastic, signals of support is BikeFest Spain, for which Clair Global is a core sponsor. BikeFest Spain, organized by We Make Events, raised nearly £50,000 for the non
profit BackupTech at January’s three-day, 384-kilometer ride up the Mediterranean coast from Valencia to Barcelona.
BackupTech is an industry-specific charity that offers not only professional mental support services, but also financial relief for those who need a helping hand during stressful times. BackupTech has provided medical grants, 24/7 free helplines, and hardship funds for those in live events, touring, theatre, and broadcast.
At its main headquarters in Lititz, Pennsylvania, Clair Global offers a partnership with Penn Medicine HealthWorks to increase employee access to integrated care from a licensed behavioral health counselor, including individualized therapy sessions for employees in live events, production, integration, and manufacturing.
In addition to personal counseling, further strategies offered include preventive training, crisis response, and leadership training courses to facilitate connection within teams. A vast spectrum of staff, from the youngest cohort still in training to experienced leaders, have reported benefits from the integrated mental health literacy of these programs.
Amber Health is a tailored, mobile approach for professionals in the industry to receive crucial tools for handling stress, depression, and other mental health challenges. The comprehensive, evidence-backed resources from Amber Health include one-on-one counseling for ongoing needs or in-crisis moments, stress-reduction and mitigation techniques, and collaborative processes for improved wellbeing on teams and individually. Crucially, these tools are available anywhere on the planet, just like the staff who use them.
The glitz and glamour of the stage bring out the best performances from the most talented people in the world, but trying to be the best people off the stage is just as important, if not more so. As Craig Harvey, Clair Global Events aptly summarizes, “Gear is gear, but without the people behind the kit, no one would be successful. It’s all about the people, and keeping them healthy is the key.”
