The Deaflympics in Tokyo bring together athletes from around the world to celebrate performance, inclusion, and unity. DSV (project delivered under the former brand DB Schenker) was proud to support the German Deaf Sports Association (DGSV) with a fully integrated logistics solution, ensuring that athletes and their equipment arrived safely and on time.
The Challenge
Supporting DGSV’s participation required a tailored concept for transporting specialized sports gear under tight timelines. Our team coordinated the pickup of 14 bicycles and accessories for six athletes from multiple locations in Germany and Austria, consolidating everything at our Frankfurt warehouse. In parallel, 39 bowling bags from 12 athletes were collected from the EMAX Bowling Center near Munich, along with office and promotional materials from DGSV’s headquarters in Cologne. Each item was carefully packed, labelled, and documented for ATA Carnet customs clearance.
The Execution
All shipments were flown to Tokyo and delivered on November 7 to the Hilton Hotel, where our colleagues in Japan ensured a smooth handover, even laying protective floor coverings for safe indoor handling. On November 15, bicycles were transported to the cycling venue, while bowling equipment and other materials were ready for competition.
The Result
By combining global reach with local expertise, we delivered a seamless, transparent, and reliable solution. Every pallet represented more than equipment, it carried the hopes and dedication of athletes competing on the world stage.
“Transporting sports gear isn’t just about moving items. It’s about enabling performance,” says Jakob Bender, Project Manager Global PM. “We knew how important it was for every piece to arrive safely and on time.”
This project reflects our commitment to precision, partnership, and inclusion. Values that will guide us as we look ahead to future events.
