MATCH & MADRING: Why Year One Is About More Than Race Weekend

When the inaugural MADRING Grand Prix took place last week, it marked the return of Formula One to Madrid and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the city, the sport and its fans.

For MATCH, it also marked the successful delivery of Year One of a landmark ten-year partnership that extends far beyond race weekend.

From the outset, the vision for MADRING was ambitious: This was not simply about hosting a Formula One race, it was about creating a destination experience capable of welcoming fans, corporate guests, stakeholders and international visitors while setting new standards for hospitality and visitor experience.

As Official Provider of Hospitality, Accommodation and Official Ticket + Hotel Packages, MATCH was entrusted with responsibility for three key components of the visitor journey. Working alongside IFEMA MADRID and a wide network of partners, MATCH developed, commercialised and delivered integrated programmes designed to connect fans and stakeholders with the event from booking through to arrival at the circuit.

The opening edition provided the first opportunity to bring that vision to life.

Across hospitality, accommodation and travel, thousands of guests experienced the event through programmes designed and delivered by MATCH, helping establish the foundations for what is intended to become one of Formula One's most exciting destinations over the next decade.

Launching a new Formula One destination brings unique challenges. With no historical benchmarks or established booking patterns, every decision contributes to building the foundations for future editions. That is why collaboration has been at the heart of the Madrid project.

One example is Hotel101 Madrid, appointed under a long-term agreement with MATCH as an Official MADRING Hotel. Located adjacent to the circuit and overlooking the iconic Valdebebas Curve, the 680-room property is one of the closest hotels to the track. MATCH worked closely with Hotel101 to integrate tickets, accommodation and hospitality, creating a proposition that connects where guests stay with how they experience the event.

The scale of preparation behind the scenes has been equally significant. Prior to the event, the Official Accommodation Programme alone spanned more than 60 properties across Madrid supporting a broad range of attendees, from travelling fans and tour operators to suppliers, stakeholders and working groups involved in event delivery.

Yet what makes MADRING particularly exciting is not simply what was achieved in Year One, but what Year One has already proven possible.

Over the past twelve months, MATCH has helped establish a best-in-class hospitality programme and accommodation partnerships that formed a central part of the inaugural event's commercial and visitor offering. From premium hospitality experiences and Official Ticket + Accommodation Packages to strategic accommodation partnerships such as Hotel101, the foundations are now in place for long-term growth.

For rights holders, host destinations and event organisers, that is perhaps the most valuable lesson from Madrid. The most successful events are not defined by a single opening weekend. They are built through long-term partnerships, shared ambition and a commitment to improving the experience with every edition whether held in the same location or hosted elsewhere.

The inaugural MADRING Grand Prix was a proud milestone for MATCH and the first chapter in a ten-year journey. For Madrid, the event has arrived. For MATCH, the opportunity is only just beginning.
