Major Events International (MEI) premium member SLX is working on the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games as the official provider of broadcast lighting & rigging, alongside sports presentation lighting, a key technical role within one of the UK’s most significant major sporting events.
Work is already underway, with 2025 representing a crucial planning and development phase. Early involvement allows SLX to collaborate closely with organisers, broadcasters and venue teams, supporting detailed technical design and integration well ahead of Games-time delivery.
Broadcast lighting and rigging are critical to how sport is presented to global audiences, requiring consistent, camera-ready lighting and robust, flexible rigging systems that meet complex operational and safety requirements. Alongside this, sports presentation lighting plays a vital role in shaping the atmosphere within venues, enhancing both the live spectator experience and broadcast output.
SLX brings proven experience from delivering lighting and rigging solutions for major international events, including Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and is applying that expertise to the unique demands of a multi-venue, multi-sport Games environment. The focus throughout this early phase is on coordination, reliability and ensuring that technical decisions support the wider delivery programme.
As a certified B Corp, SLX is also embedding sustainable thinking from the outset. Early planning enables more informed decisions around equipment selection, power strategy and infrastructure, helping to reduce environmental impact while maintaining broadcast and presentation standards.
The appointment marks a significant milestone for SLX and reflects the depth of UK capability within MEI’s membership. As planning continues through 2026, collaboration and technical excellence will remain central to supporting the successful delivery of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
