Spartan Crew Join Forces with Wacker Global Events for Blockbuster Stadium Boxing Match

One Tuesday afternoon in early March, while I was sat in gridlock traffic on the Old Kent Road, the music cut out and my ringtone started blaring. It was my old pal Wacker. After the hellos and “how are you doings,” it was down to business. In his deep Scouse accent: “Ey, Paz mate, I need some crew. How about…?” - and he read out the requirements for a not insignificant number of crew on a London job. I said, “OK mate, venue and dates?” He replied, “April 9th–11th.”

I knew right there - it was the absolutely massive Tyson Fury vs Makhmudov fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. What a gig!

I have always been a fan of boxing, and I regularly tune in to all the big fights, no matter the time or where they’re being held. So I was like a kid in a candy store looking at this one.

Wacker is from Wacker Events Global, based over in Liverpool, and he wanted a reliable London firm he could partner with to deliver on numbers for the event. He was fully aware of our unique training programme at Spartan Crew and our reputation. This was the first time we worked together, and it was a resounding success for both parties.

We supplied crew for barriers, audio, lighting, and LED (including the very cool LED floor for the ring walks).

Thursday saw 42 crew, Friday 24, four crew for the show-day morning, and then 44 crew for the load-out after the fight on Saturday night.

Looking forward to more of these in the future - maybe a Tyson vs AJ fight?! Who knows!
